Manuel Barrueco gitárművész 1952-ben Santiago de Cuba-ban született. Nyolc éves korától gitározik, s 15 éves korától az USÁ-ban él, ahol tanulmányait a baltimorei Peabody Institute-on végezte. 1974-ben egy nagyszabású komolyzenei koncertsorozattal bejárta az egész világot.
