Jesus Christ Superstar (US/1970) Decca Records

Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1970 album musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice. By 1983, the album had sold over 7 million copies worldwide.
Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1970 rock opera with music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. It started as a rock opera album musical before its Broadway on-stage debut in 1971. The musical is sung-through, with no spoken dialogue. The story is loosely based on the Gospels’ accounts of the last week of Jesus’ life, beginning with the preparation for the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and ending with the crucifixion. It depicts political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus that are not present in the Bible.

A Jézus Krisztus szupersztár (eredeti címén Jesus Christ Superstar) 1973-ban bemutatott Oscar-díjra jelölt amerikai musicalfilm Norman Jewison rendezésében, Tim Rice és Andrew Lloyd Webber azonos című rockoperájának adaptációja. A két főszereplőt, Ted Neeleyt és Carl Andersont 1974-ben alakításukért Golden Globe-díjra jelölték. A film Jézus életének utolsó pár napját mutatja be, modern látványvilág és képi eszközök segítségével, Júdás tragikus alakjára összpontosítva.
