Roebuck “Pops” Staples (1914-2000) amerikai dalszerző, gitáros énekes 1948-ban Csikágóban alapította meg gyermekeivel a The Staple Singers nevű énekegyüttest.A Staples gyermekek: Cleotha (1934–2013), Pervis (1935), Yvonne (1936) és Mavis (1939) és a papa zenekara a hetvenes években volt a csúcson, több daluk is felkerült a TOP 100 listára.
